When Your Mind Stays on Alert, Therapy Can Help You Make Room to Live
Anxiety can turn uncertainty into constant scanning, overthinking, avoidance, tension, and self-doubt, even when part of you knows the fear is bigger than the situation.
At Luna & Sol Counseling, anxiety therapy for teens and adults is shaped around your concerns and goals. We offer sessions in The Woodlands and online for clients located in Texas when appropriate. Together, we explore worry and avoidance, practice useful responses, and plan support at a pace that fits you.
More than worry
Anxiety Can Affect Thoughts, Emotions, the Body, and Daily Choices
It may be obvious, or it may hide behind preparation, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and appearing highly capable. If keeping up is leaving you exhausted, learn about burnout and high-functioning anxiety.
In Your Thoughts
Racing thoughts, replaying conversations, imagining worst-case outcomes, indecision, or needing certainty before acting. Explore ACT for overthinking and rumination for a closer look at this pattern. If unwanted thoughts are followed by repeated checking, reassurance or mental rituals, read about ACT therapy for OCD.
In Your Body
Tension, a tight chest, stomach discomfort, restlessness, sleep disruption, headaches, or feeling keyed up.
In Your Emotions
Fear, irritability, dread, shame, overwhelm, or frustration that anxiety keeps taking up so much space.
In Your Routines
Avoiding situations, reassurance-seeking, overpreparing, procrastinating, withdrawing, or organizing life around not feeling anxious. If fear of judgment is shaping meetings, friendships, or everyday conversations, explore social anxiety therapy.
You do not need to wait for a crisis. If anxiety is narrowing your life or making ordinary decisions exhausting, that is enough reason to ask for support.

Anxiety Therapy for Teens
Teens may experience school pressure, social fears, perfectionism, panic, irritability, or difficulty separating from worry. Therapy offers practical skills and a respectful space to talk.
Practical and compassionate
How Anxiety Therapy Can Help
You may know an email is probably fine and still check it ten times. Or your body may go on alert before you have words for the worry. We look at what starts the alarm and what keeps the cycle going.
Your therapist may draw on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT skills, and regulation practices, depending on the pattern and your goals. Gradual exposure may be useful when avoidance is limiting daily life. We explain the purpose of each approach and practice manageable ways to respond to worry, body sensations, and uncertainty. Support, rest, and boundaries can also be part of the plan. Your goals, circumstances, and consent guide the plan.

Understand the Alarm
Notice triggers, body cues, thoughts, reassurance loops, and avoidance patterns without treating anxiety as a personal failure.
Make Space for Discomfort
First acknowledge how difficult anxiety feels. Practice creating some distance from worried thoughts and allowing feelings a little room, then consider a supported step, rest, or a boundary that fits your needs.
Expand Your Life
Gradually approach situations, conversations, choices, and values that anxiety has pushed to the edges.

Start with one small step
Try a Free ACT Exercise
These interactive tools are educational resources, not a diagnosis or a substitute for therapy. They can help you notice what is happening and choose a next step that matters.
Drop Anchor
If everything feels like too much, reconnect with your surroundings before choosing what to do next.
Flip the Hook
If your mind keeps replaying the same thought, practice noticing it as a thought rather than a command.
Free ACT Tools
If worry is taking over but you are unsure what might help, choose a starting point that fits your experience.
Common questions
Anxiety Therapy FAQ
How do I know whether my anxiety is serious enough for therapy?
You do not need a particular level of severity. Therapy may be useful when worry, tension, panic, avoidance, or reassurance-seeking interferes with relationships, school, work, sleep, health, or daily choices.
Will therapy make me face fears before I am ready?
Treatment should be collaborative and paced. When approaching avoided situations is useful, your therapist will explain the rationale and work with you on manageable steps rather than forcing you.
Can therapy help with panic symptoms?
Therapy can help you understand panic, respond differently to body sensations and fearful thoughts, and reduce avoidance. Your therapist will also discuss when medical evaluation is appropriate. Our guide to ACT for panic attacks and panic disorder explains fear of the next attack and the difference between supported practice and pushing through distress.
Do you offer virtual anxiety therapy?
Virtual sessions may be available for clients located in Texas, depending on clinical fit and therapist availability. In-person services are offered in The Woodlands.
How long does anxiety therapy take?
There is no universal timeline. Length depends on your goals, patterns, circumstances, preferences, and response to treatment. Progress and next steps are discussed collaboratively.
